For years I kept a little Victorinox Swiss Army knife (Classic SD) on my keychain - blade, nail file, scissors, toothpick, and tweezers. Pretty handy to always have that available for the little odd task.
I have a Leatherman Super Tool that I carry on my belt when I know I'm liable to need it - out camping, working on things, etc. But it is a bit large to cart around on a daily basis. Yet there were times that I wished I had more than the little Victorinox.
When I first saw the Leatherman Squirt, I knew I was going to buy one. All the benefits of a multi-tool combined with a size that meant that I'd always have it with me. For me, the ES4 - the electrician's version with wire strippers - seemed the best fit. It offers everything the PS4 with just standard pliers does, but supplies the useful electrical tools in place of just standard pliers. For me, the end of the strippers is still enough pliers for most tasks and the slightly larger pliers of the PS4 really aren't that much bigger to offer much advantage. However, if you never find a need to strip wire, you may want to stick with the PS4. The S4 with only scissors instead of pliers didn't seem as useful. There are a number of times a small pair of pliers have come in handy for me. And the PS4 and ES4 both have a small scissors similar to the Victorinox.
A great little tool for yourself or for a gift for any handyperson you may have in your life.

AS I'm the owner of 4 or 5 of the previous model (I've unfortunately lost all of them), and after reading many reviews of people that were deceived by this new model, I bought this one with a little fear on my mind. I'm always carrying one in my pockets and I.m using it several times a day. The skinners are working very well and they last. You can skin, and skin, and skin and they still work well. But... I'm deceived that the little REAL philips screwdriver is not there anymore (it was working absolutely well) and less but also with the little flat screwdriver (tweeker we usually call it). But, I'm amazingly surprised about the scissors. They work very well and I've used them a few times. But.... I'm still looking for the 4 older units I've lost.... Specially for those 2 little screwdrivers. Little note, I had to "punch" the main rivet as the skinner was a bit loose...

I used mine daily and finally it came up missing, so went looking for a replacement here since Radio Shack quit carrying them.... this is a nice little stripper when you need one quickly, going down to very small gage wire. I stripped some cat5 in a pinch with it for a little demo, though I think it is really meant for down to 18 Ga only, where it works fine. Not my day to day wire strippers as an electrician but great for the one off project here and there in the lab. little phillips came in handy many times. My only knock is that I don't like the way the blade cuts since it is ground on only one side. makes it cut crooked lines but it is fine for packing tape and such which was the day to day need anyway. overall great quality and lasted a long time for me.
