As other reviewers I found it difficult to balance. Additionally it is nearly impossible to separate the top from the bottom to get the ice.

I don't make a lot of crushed ice, so I was looking for something simple that would do the job for making a batch of mojitos once in a while. This did the trick alright, but the handle axle broke after a few months, so not a whole lot of uses. It's essentially a long rivet, and the flattened end in the handle failed.
I also noticed that it worked better if it was cold (e.g., in the freezer for an hour or two) before use.

I completely cleaned this product before using it; there were always tiny metal shavings in the ice the half dozen times I used this thing....then the handle snapped off. I have an older model ice crusher that works fine, but this thing should not even be on the market.
